The Macedonian Language

As the official language of the Republic of Macedonia, Macedonian is written using its Cyrillic alphabet. The Macedonian literary standard is a modern European language, which according to its characteristics is different from the neighboring and other Slavic and non-Slavic languages.

The Macedonian Language

The spelling of Macedonian is phonetically based: almost every word is written exactly as it is pronounced, and every letter of a word is pronounced. The stress accent varies in different situations and only one certain rule can be given - the last syllable of a word is never stressed.

Macedonian

Macedonian is a southern Slavic language with about 1.4 million speakers in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, the USA, Canada and Australia. Macedonian became the official language of the Republic of Macedonia in 1944.
