Mac 101: Spotlight

Your computer's hard drive holds a vast amount of application and system-related files, and anything you create gets added to the mix. So what happens when you need to find something? Should you scour the Finder until you find what you seek? Nah. Use Spotlight, a new search technology that's built right into Tiger.

Mac 101: Dashboard

Not everything you do on your Mac requires a heavy-duty application. For those smaller tasks, Tiger features Dashboard, a semi-transparent layer that floats above your Desktop at the press of a key, and provides access to several fun and functional, mini applications called widgets. Need to crunch numbers? Grab the Calculator widget. Want to track your significant other's flight path? Take a peek at the Flight Tracker widget. Don't have a window view in your office? Check the Weather widget to see what you're missing.

Mac 101: iSync and .Mac Sync

Staying up to date doesn't require a lot of comparing, contrasting, and sorting on your end. With iSync, you can let your Mac sync Address Book and iCal calendars between your iPod, Palm OS device, Bluetooth phone, and USB phone. And if you're a .Mac member, .Mac Sync allows you to sync your computer with your .Mac account to sync information, including contacts, calendars, Safari bookmarks, Keychains, and Mail information, across all your Macs over the Internet. Here's a look at both.

Mac 101: Safari

You probably know what Safari is by now; you're most likely using it to view this very webpage. But there's a lot of things you can do with Safari that you might not know about. For example, you can enable tabbed browsing to cut down on window clutter, block annoying pop-up windows, and have Safari automatically fill in your personal information when you're making online purchases. Here are some of the things you can do in Safari.
